Replacing Garage doors in Calgary

Slate Grey Flush Garage Door and LiftMaster Opener

We replaced a worn raised-panel garage door in Calgary with a slate grey Richards-Wilcox flush door, R18 insulated, plus a new LiftMaster 6690L opener.

Projects / Garage Door Installation

Calgary project, completed in October

From Raised Panels to a Flush Slate Grey Garage Door

This Calgary garage had a taupe raised-panel door, six panels across and four rows high, and its bottom section had started to pull away at both ends. We took it out and put in a Richards-Wilcox flush-style door in slate grey, insulated to R18, with a double-pane window at each end of the top section.

We also installed a new LiftMaster 6690L opener for the door. The whole visit took three to four hours, and our crew rated it an average job.

Before

The old door had 24 small raised panels, and the bottom section was separating at the left and right edges.

After

Long flat lines, a slate grey finish and two windows across the top. The brick, trim and lights stayed as they were.

About the door

Why a Flush Door Suits a Brick Front

A flush door has no raised panels, just broad flat sections with thin horizontal lines. Against red brick, the slate grey reads as a clean dark band, and the brown trim around the opening ties it in. Our garage door styles guide shows the contemporary flush look next to raised-panel and carriage designs if you’re comparing options.

The door was made in Canada and carries R18 insulation, which matters for an attached Calgary garage through the winter. The double-pane glass lets daylight in at the top of the door without giving up much of that insulation. See how we replace garage doors in Calgary, from measuring the opening to the final test.

A new door is a good time to look at the opener too. Heavier insulated doors need an opener chosen for the door, and when we install a garage door opener, we explain how we match the two.
